Last night Eva and I took a trip to the bookstore, just the two of us. Since she's been in school full-time, I don't have as much one-on-one time with her as I'd like, so it was a rare treat to be able to visit with her as we drove (without her brother interrupting). She told me all about her day at school, the games she's been playing with her friends at recess (something involving dinosaur eggs and volcanos), and the books she was hoping we'd find on the shelves at the bookstore. And, after spending my days with Sully, I kind of didn't know what to do with myself as she got in and out of the car...I had no child to buckle in, no doors to shut, "I can do it myself, Mama!" she said.
Wow. My baby really is growing up. And I sure do like her.
