Yesterday, the kids and I attended a picnic at one of our local libraries to celebrate the end of the summer reading program. When we got there, we had a wonderful surprise...Eva had won first prize for her age group for logging the most reading hours! She was given a t-shirt and a gift card to a bookstore in town.
But then we had another big surprise...Sully won first prize for his age group too! Another t-shirt and gift card for us! We sat down and enjoyed our hot dogs and dilly bars, the kids entered their tickets into the door prize drawing buckets, we eyed up the long, LONG line for a balloon twist, decided we'd rather not wait ("It hasn't moved an inch!" said Sully), and headed on home for the afternoon.
BUT THEN we had another big surprise...we recieved a phone call later that afternoon, and Eva's name had been chosen to win one of the door prizes! And what a prize it was: a gorgeous, hand-crafted fairy house with SIX little flower fairies. Our girl is in heaven. What a day!
