Oh! What a cute little baby!
Thank you, her name’s Eva.
Ooh…that’s a pretty name. She’s so little; how old is she?
She’s two months old.
Two…months…old? Two months old?? Mylittlebabyistwomonthsold?!?!!?
When did that happen?
The past month has flown by—Eva and my first month home alone. It’s been a little rocky at times. For both of us. But I think we’ve come through it beautifully. I’m so fortunate I’ve been able to be home with her…she’s growing so quickly, and I’ve witnessed every minute. Amazing.
Well, it seems like eons ago, but Eva began this month in her harness. When I look back through our photos, I am actually kind of shocked to see the thing. I remember being so upset when they put it on her, and thinking 4-6 weeks sounded like such a long time. Now…it’s a distant memory. And Eva has an ever-growing collection of pants.
This month our kitties have discovered Eva is not a new, pink cat, but a little human with hands that will one day be good for petting and sneaking them food. Also, Eva has the best toys.
In the past few weeks, I have become close friends with the breast pump. It was tough, but I managed to give up Eva for one meal a day so Mike could give her a bottle. I had been putting this off because I really enjoy the closeness of breastfeeding…but I knew if I ever wanted to be out of the house for longer than 2 hours, I had to let go a bit. Eva took to the bottle like a champ, and Mike got to experience the satisfaction of feeding his daughter. Next I figure I’ll let him share in the satisfaction of cleaning the bathroom.
Eva took her first trip this month—to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. She had a little trouble sleeping the first night, but by the second night she had adapted and slept, um, like a baby. Sorry. Eva had a great time that weekend, playing with her Aunt and Uncle and meeting lots of new friends. Grandma even took her shopping for a crib and bouncy chair to use when she visits. Lucky girl!
Well, I've been trying not to jinx things, but I think it’s safe to say that Eva is now sleeping through the night. Every once in a while she wakes up at an odd time, but for the most part—knock wood—she sleeps until morning.
The funny part is, at the same time as she began sleeping all night, she also started turning herself around in her crib. When we go in to get her in the morning she’s usually turned at least 90°, if not more. Half the time her little feet are sticking out between the slats of her crib.
Eva is still a genius, you’ll be glad to know. Once again she’s accomplished everything this month that our book says she might…and then some. You remember that show Doogie Howser? Yeah. Watch out.
We took Eva to the doctor for her 2 month check-up, and she wowed us again. She now weighs 13lbs 4oz, and is 24 inches long! She definitely has that eating thing down. While she was at the doctor, Eva had her first immunization shots. Four of them. Two in each leg. She handled them beautifully, but I am scarred for life, I think. Because you see, while the nurse was jamming those giant needles into my daughter, I had to hold her down.
I had to hold her down! Why didn’t any of you warn me? Seriously.
Eva was a little bit sleepy all day after her shots, but that (luckily) was it. She really was a trooper. Plus she got some totally awesome Bugs Bunny band-aids. She posed for a picture so you all could see them.
Another incredible month. Happy 2 Month Birthday, Munchkin!
