A'visiting, Once More

We spent the weekend in Minneapolis again, at my parents' house. My mom and I threw a baby shower for Eva's Auntie Alix (she's due in December! that's soon!), so it was a busy weekend.

The shower was a lot of fun (Though I planned it so I'm not exactly impartial. But whatever.) Unfortunately, I was so caught up in filling plates and directing games that I almost completely forgot about my camera. Here's one of three (equally blurry) photos I took during the shower, it's also the only one that Alix is actually in:

And apparently I dropped the ball all over the place this weekend, as far as the camera goes. We were at my parents' house from Friday evening through Monday morning, and (other than those three shower photos I mentioned) this is the only picture I took:

It's a good one, huh? That's Eva, about to open a gift from our friend Spud (Fud) and his wife Lyndsay (Wid-zee), who came to visit on Sunday. I really, really thought I'd taken more pictures. At least one where Eva was looking at the camera.

Apparently not. Next time, I guess. (It really was a fun weekend...I guess you'll just have to trust me!)

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Internet:
I'd like to take this opportunity to announce that last night, during a delicious dinner of Green Pepper Strata and Grapes, Eva Paulus fed herself with a fork for the very first time. With no help from Mama OR Daddy.

And people. This was no "dip the spoon in the yogurt and lick it off" baby bite. No. This bite required actual scooping and balancing.

And, just to be sure we were properly impressed, she then switched to the other hand and did it again.

Reality Folds Back in on Itself: For Spud

Yesterday, our buddy Spud left this comment:

...by the way, after looking at some of the photos of eva from the past month, i've shortened the phrase "uber-adorable" into the more manageable "uberdorable" to describe her cuteness. feel free to use it around the house, but if you teach eva to say it, reality might fold back on itself due to the cute overload. fair warning.

Which I took as a thinly-veiled suggestion for a blog post. Right Spud? That's what you meant, right? ...right?

She also got a little, Eva-sized "puh-keen" that she carries around the house.

Genius. Clearly.

So Eva's interest in her blocks has thus far extended to throwing them, chewing on them, knocking down towers of them (built by other people,) and occasionally studying the pictures on them.

Which is why I was so shocked when I stepped into the hallway and discovered this sight:

That's eight blocks people. Eight blocks. Stacked! On! Top! Of! Each! Other!

Her New Best Friend

This week, Eva's decided that her favorite toy is the bag of rice from our pantry. She carries it around the house saying "Rice. Rice. Meekarice (Make rice.)"
