...at my Auntie Jan's house (It was awesome! It was an engagement party for my cousin Hope--Jan's daughter--and her fiance Lam, who's Vietnamese. Apparently, it's Vietnamese custom for the groom's family to present the bride's family with gifts--fruit, tea, wine, and cakes--in these beautiful, elaborate dishes, and we had a front row seat as Lam's family filed in the door and presented their gifts. There was a formal introduction of all the family members, a mutual acceptation of new daughters/sons-in-law, and then Lam got down on one knee and presented Hope with a ring. It was all so, so cool! Especially the part where we dug into a gigantic platter of egg rolls, made fresh the night before by Hope and Lam.), and after a nap and four pieces of cake, Eva mastered The Straw. Juice boxes everywhere, Beware. (PS: That's Eva's Great Auntie Jan up there in that picture. Eva calls her "Jammies.")
