Are you familiar with letterboxing? (If not, you can go here and read a bit about it. We'll wait for you.) I first heard about letterboxing when Eva was just a tiny babe. Back then, Mike and I talked a lot about it, got really excited...aaand then continued to talk about how we were "totally going to do that someday!" for years.
Well. Yesterday morning, I took one look outside, saw the beautiful sunny cool weather, and decided that was day we would finally become letterboxers. Over breakfast, we all decided together on the design for our stamp, then we headed to the store for a carving kit and a new blank book in which to begin recording our "finds." When we got home, I sketched out and carved our stamp (Which is a LOT of fun, by the way. I may have a new obsession for a while...), and before we knew it we were in the woods, counting paces, looking for landmarks, and forcing Mike to stick his hand into a creepy dark hole. (He was very brave.)

The letterbox we found this first time out was a quick beginner- and family-friendly hunt. But there are many, many more in our area, and we are all looking forward to our next search--on the way home, Eva asked if we could go on another treasure hunt tomorrow!
