Little Eva has been swept up in the world of Oz. Early in the summer, she and I read the book together (one of my favorites from childhood). Then, we were lucky enough to see the musical version, performed by our own local theater guild. And, just this past weekend, her Grammy and I finally, finally introduced her to the film version (love for this story runs in the family!)
Eva is now just as taken with Oz as I expected her to be...but the surprising part is, so is Sully! I never guessed he'd have the patience to sit through the entire film, but he did. He was really interested...and now he and his sister are spending large portions of their days pretending to be various characters from Oz, and attempting to sing the songs from the movie.
Last night, they added costumes.
Presenting The Wicked Witch of the West:

And Scarecrow (please note the "straw" sticking out of his pants and shirt--this was all Eva's doing):

As a former little girl who ran around with a wooden spoon wand, pretending to be Glinda the Good Witch, and who also insisted on being a green-faced wicked witch for Halloween three years in a row, I really couldn't be more proud of my children right now. (Except I do question their judgement on using the mask. That's sort of terrifying.)
