On Wednesday evening, Eva threw a party for me and Mike. "Just to show you how much I love you!" she said. "I should have invited your friends, but I didn't have time." (*melt*)
While I was tucking Sully in for his rest that day, Eva was busy decorating. I came out to find her taping crabapples to every available verticle surface in our family room...and that's how I discovered she was planning a party. She went on to prepare a wonderful salad from the foods she knew for sure she could help herself to: cherry tomatoes, raisins, and leaves from our herb garden. ("With a little water to make it extra special.") She set her salad aside until her daddy arrived home from work...at which point, she hung up the most wonderful banner I've seen in my life:

She welcomed Mike, Sully, and me to the party, and directed us to the table she'd laid out so we could enjoy the feast she'd prepared (we had assigned seating).

Then, we DANCED.

Afterwhich, we headed outside for a good old-fashioned foot race. (Sully won.)

And, at the very end of the party, she presented us with this beautiful portrait. I think we may need to have it framed.

Our Eva's quite a kid, I tell you what.
