On Saturday, we made the trek to the Mall of America so Eva could hand over her lovingly-saved money in exchange for her very own American Girl doll. Mike and I are so proud of her--$120 is a LOT to save, especially when you're only 6 years old. But perhaps more importantly, Eva is very VERY proud of herself, and I think she has a deeper appreciation for just how special her doll is.

Eva chose a doll named Saige, who was just released this month. I think the giant Saige display may have done more than a little to sway her in that direction, but Eva's happy with her doll. And that's what matters.

"I'm glad they didn't ask my age," she said. "Because I'm only six, but the box says age eight and up. Maybe they wouldn't have let me buy her!"
